Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's Dr Katherine Wang is selected for the prestigious ABSW Media Fellowship

Dr Katherine Wang was selected as part of this year’s Association of British Science Writers (ABSW) Media Fellowship scheme.

The ABSW Media Fellowships offer a unique opportunity for scientists, clinicians and engineers to spend two to six weeks working within world-leading outlets such as the Guardian, BBC, or WIRED.Ìý

The ABSW Media Fellowships scheme aims to bolster scientists' confidence in engaging with the media, address mistrust and misrepresentation, bridge the gap between journalists and scientists, and foster a better understanding of science and society.Ìý

For this year’s programme, Dr Wang will be supported by University College London (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê) Engineering.

Dr Katherine Wang is a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow, based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê. Her post-doctoral work focuses on developing wearable MedTech devices that help alleviate the pain and swelling caused by lymphoedema. She has a multidisciplinary background in the areas of Biomedical Science, Biomaterials and Engineering.

As part of her ABSW Media Fellowship, Katherine will work with BBC Future. She is hoping to gain more skills in public communication and engagement.
