Galaxy evolution pioneer wins major international prize
Professor Richard Ellis (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Physics & Astronomy) has been awarded the 2023 Gruber Cosmology Prize for his pioneering work both studying galactic evolution dating to the “cosmic dawn” and designing innovative instruments with which to do so.
Astrophysicist awarded medal for Jupiter and Saturn discoveries
Professor Nick Achilleos (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Physics & Astronomy) has been awarded the 2023 Chapman Medal from the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) for his outstanding work advancing understanding of the magnetic bubbles (magnetospheres) of planets, in particular Jupiter and Saturn.

Professor Nguyen T. K. Thanh (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Physics & Astronomy) is one of only 12 recipients globally of this year’s Distinguished Women in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering Awards, bestowed by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
