Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Library Services undertook extensive refurbishment of the ground floor of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Science Library (DMS Watson Building) from June to September 2008. With the generous support from the Wolfson Foundation, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Library Services now houses a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Learning Laboratory, which will serve as a model for all libraries in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê family of libraries.
Benefits to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Library Services users include
- The entrance lobby has been widened and improved with a new Membership desk and a separate security office
- The computer cluster has been extended with 30 new postgraduate cluster computers
- Wheelchair users benefit from a new automated gate to access the Library
- From the entrance lobby, two sets of glazed double doors invite users into the Learning Laboratory
- To facilitate group study, the Learning Laboratory accommodates 11 new soft seating clusters and a group study area, enabled with RoamNet wireless network, for up to 44 users
- 5 self-service terminals can be used for book issues and returns
- A new issue & enquiry desk
