Mary Mortimer Tayler, born 07/04/1796 and baptised 02/04/1810 at Keynsham estate (then in St Elizabeth, Jamaica). Daughter of Thomas Weir Tayler, owner of Auchenbeddie, and Ann Pierce, "a free mulatto". A slave-owner in her own right by 1817, she signed the slave registers by mark. Inherited 拢50 sterling in the will of her father, who died c. 1829.
