Clergyman resident at the time of compensation, claimed unsuccessfully the compensation for the enslaved people on Grand Sable on St Vincent as owner-in-fee.
T71/892 St Vincent no. 455. His letter re political climate in St Vincent of 4/1/1834 forwarded by Thos Weatherall to S.Duckworth, Lincoln's Inn; Thos Browne reported to have been given the living of parish in which Grand Sable was located, worth 拢700 or 拢800. Rev Thomas Alexander Browne was resident, visited on Grand Sable by Colthurst pp 191-197. p 192 'Mr Browne's conversation is lively and gentleman-llke, and exceedingly entertaining.' But Browne was opposed to ending of apprenticeship. p 192: 'resisting the wishes of the British people in a matter upon which the whole nation has sets their hearts.'
