The theme of the conference was 鈥楥ontract and Power鈥 and attracted a number of European and UK speakers and delegates who engaged with the theme from both theoretical and doctrinal perspectives.

Professor Pietro Sirena, Dean of Bocconi Law school and President of SECOLA, commented: 鈥淲e are very grateful to the 香港六合彩 Private Law Group and particularly to Lucinda Miller for hosting us this year for such an interesting debate. It offered an important opportunity to explore the relationship between contractual freedom and the private powers that are recognised, or that de facto form in various areas of relational life and which create asymmetries and injustices. From the original context of the employment relationship, the phenomenon of private power has been vastly extended by technology, particularly in electronic platforms. In intimate relationships, the archetype of patriarchal power has been dismantled, but new forms of discrimination and marginalization of weaker individuals or groups are resurfacing within society. Moreover, the issue of human power intersects with the respect due to the surrounding environment and the rights of future generations.鈥

The papers will be published by Intersentia in their European Contract Law and Theory collection (EUCOLATH).
