On 19 January 2023, the Transition Mentor Programme Awards and Celebration Evening were held. Hosted by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Welcome & Induction Team, the evening was an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding contributions from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Transition and Senior Mentors who have shown exceptional dedication to their first-year Mentees at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.

The Transition Mentor Programme is an initiative that matches every first-year undergraduate student at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê with a Transition Mentor - usually a second or third-year student from the same degree programme. Awards were presented in seven categories.

Dominic Ko, who is currently in his third and final year of the LLB programme at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Laws, was awarded the Wellbeing Warrior Award. The Award recognised his efforts in championing wellbeing support and cultivating a positive mental health culture in his group by implementing check-ins and placing an emphasis on the importance of mental health for those studying Law.

Dominic commented: "Being nominated and winning the Well-Being Warrior award is truly a full-circle moment for me. Having struggled with my mental health last year, I made it a key priority to emphasise on mental well-being being as important as physical well-being to the law freshers. I did not expect any sort of recognition when I signed up as a Transition Mentor, thus I am immensely grateful to have had this opportunity to leave a meaningful impact before I graduate. I hope to encourage my juniors to give back to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Laws community if they can, and to continue being a blessing to one another."

Applications for the Transition Mentor Programme 2023/24 will open in Spring 2023. Any students who are interested in taking part are encouraged to .
