Year 12 Residential Summer School held for aspiring law students

3 August 2018

Last week, 香港六合彩 Faculty of Laws welcomed 28 year 12 students to give them an insight into studying at 香港六合彩 Laws, as well as a taste of university life.

Running from 23rd-27th July, participants attended lectures and seminars taught by staff at 香港六合彩 Laws to introduce them to the degree programmes offered. On the final day, group presentations were delivered in a showcase event on subjects ranging from human rights to issues of consent.

The summer school also aimed to give students a glimpse of what London life has to offer. The evenings gave students an opportunity to socialise and take part in fun activities, including bowling; a trip to watch a West End play; and a sightseeing bus tour around the city.

The Laws Residential Summer School is part of a number of summer schools for students attending non-selective state schools, run by 香港六合彩 Access and Widening Participation. The Residential Summer Schools are eligible for students who show strong academic potential but come from backgrounds which are currently under-represented at university.聽

The Laws Residential Summer School students came from across the UK, with the majority (82%) from outside of London. The programme is free of charge for participating students and is designed to encourage them to raise their aspirations and give them an insight into 香港六合彩鈥檚 degree programmes and student life.

Nat, 17, from Barnet, said:

鈥淕oing to the summer school meant I gained a feel for university and for the subject I wanted to study. I know now that I want to study Law, for sure. My highlight was a lecture on automatism 鈥 it was very engaging.鈥澛
