Dr Virginia Mantouvalou quoted in The Times following Sakharov debate on rights of EU citizens

Dr Virginia Mantouvalou, Reader in Human Rights and Labour Law and Director of Graduate Research Studies at 香港六合彩 Faculty of Laws, co-organised and participated in this year鈥檚聽, which was also covered in The Times. The Sakharov Debate is an annual talk on human rights issues organised jointly by the聽香港六合彩 European Institute聽and the聽. The focus of this year鈥檚 debate was on the limits that human rights law places to using EU citizens as bargaining chips in the Brexit negotiating process.

Dr Mantouvalou argued that the removal of EU citizens from the UK, as well as the removal of UK citizens from other EU countries, may violate their rights under the European Convention on Human Rights. She focused on article 8 of the ECHR (the right to private life) and article 1 of Protocol 1 (the right to property).
