INSOL International celebrates the work of Emeritus Professor Ian Fletcher

To mark his retirement as聽, 香港六合彩 Laws Emeritus Professor of International Commercial Law,聽, was presented with a聽Festschrift聽by colleagues and friends at a special event held in his honour in San Francisco last month.

Bearing the title:聽Festschrift in Honour of Professor Ian Fletcher QC, the collection features articles on themes reflecting his scholarly work and interests, contributed by some of the academics, judges and practitioners who have been associated with the Academics鈥 Group during it鈥檚 22-year history.

Professor Fletcher, who has served as the Group鈥檚 Chairman since its formation in 1993 and who also received the INSOL Scroll of Honour in 2013 鈥 the first academic to be recognised in this way 鈥 has organised 17 international academic conferences covering the field of bankruptcy, insolvency and related matters during his tenure.

Following the presentation, Professor Fletcher voiced his profound thanks and spoke of his appreciation of: 鈥渢his wonderful, and wholly unexpected, gift.鈥

He said: 鈥淚t has been an enormous privilege to collaborate over the years with so many distinguished colleagues whose writings are contained within this volume. I shall cherish its contents, and the friendships that are reflected in its pages, for the rest of my days.鈥

, which is also known by its full title, the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals, was founded in 1982 and is made up of over 10,000 members, including accountants, lawyers, judges, academics and other specialists, across 92 countries.

Professor Fletcher has been closely involved in INSOL鈥檚 activities since 1992, when he was appointed Editor of the聽(IIR), a position he continues to occupy. The IIR is a peer-reviewed journal produced on behalf of INSOL and published online and in print three times a year.

Since its inception in 2007, Professor Fletcher has also been involved in the development and teaching of the INSOL Global Insolvency Practice Course, a programme of advanced instruction for practitioners taught by an international Faculty of academics, professionals and members of the judiciary.

The collection of articles presented to Professor Fletcher as part of the聽Festschrift聽will be published as a Special Edition (Volume 3) of the聽.
