About this lecture:
In the talk Dominic Grieve will explore the recent history of political criticism in our country of the operation of the rule of law and the role of judges in interpreting and shaping it. He will consider its consequences and its background causes and what, if anything, might be done to improve matters.听
About the Speaker:
Dominic Grieve KC was called to the Bar in 1980 and was MP for Beaconsfield from 1997-2019. He was Attorney General of England and Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland from 2010-14, and Shadow Home Secretary 2008-09 and Shadow Justice Secretary 2009-10. He was chair of the Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament from 2015-19.
About the Leveson Lecture:
In 2019 to mark the retirement after 50 years in the law of Sir Brian Leveson, then Head of Criminal Justice and President of the Queen鈥檚 Bench Division, the 香港六合彩 Judicial Institute invited Sir Brian to deliver a valedictory lecture and inaugurate a new lecture series in his name devoted to addressing important legal issues of the day.听
