Eisai to fund neuroscience PhD studentship

Global pharmaceutical company Eisai is to fund a PhD studentship at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
Proposals for the new studentships are now being invited for projects in neuroscience, to be undertaken at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, beginning in October 2013. Applications relating to the discovery of novel therapeutics of high relevance to neurological disorders will be considered, and can include: deeper understanding of disease processes, validation of novel drug targets, disease models, novel tools, technologies and probes, translational-enabling approaches and systems.
Eisai was established in Japan 70 years ago and now has research laboratories in Tokyo, Boston and London. Their recently signed research agreement with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê is aimed at the discovery of novel therapeutics, recognising Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's strengths in neuroscience research.

Funding (fully-funded, three years) will include:Ìý
- Tuition Fees: to be paid in advance in full to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê (for UK or EU citizens only).Ìý
- Stipend: to be paid monthly in arrears to the student (per annum: Year 1; £23,652; Year 2: £24,125; Year 3: £24,607)Ìý
- Research Expenses Allowance: to be paid quarterly in advance to the relevant Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê department (per annum : Year 1: £10,766; Year 2: £10,981; Year 3: £11,200)Ìý
Applications should include:Ìý
- Project proposal (500 words maximum), including explanation of how the work could contribute to therapeutic impact in neurodegenerative disorders.Ìý
- CV of the proposing faculty member (no more than two pages but to include: key and recent publications; contact details).Ìý
- Nomination of a corresponding applicant for joint applications.Ìý
