IOE academics win Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Global Engagement Funds

Five Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Institute of Education (IOE) academics have received funding from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Global Engagement for projects involving international collaboration.
Among the recipients is Dr Keri Wong who has received funding for a five-day virtual webinar series examining the impact of COVID-19 on social trust and mental health. The series, which will draw on research from Dr Wong’s project with the University of Pennsylvania, Nanyang Technological University, and the University of Trento, aims to:
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between researchers, stakeholders, and the general public;
- Inform attendees on the short-term and longer-term impacts of COVID-19 on health;
- Encourage co-interpretation of study findings and co-development of policy recommendations.Â
Dr Wong’s international study compares the UK's lockdown experience with the experiences in other countries where different COVID-19 guidelines have been adopted and will help to develop best practices to support individuals and their families.
Dr Roberto Filippi also received Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Global Engagement funding to assess the impact of COVID-19 on early literacy and numeracy amongst disadvantaged pupils in Israel. Other IOE recipients include Dr Laila Kadiwal, Dr Rachel Rosen, and Professor Claire Cameron.
This year’s Global Engagement Funds (GEF) awarded just under £180,000 to a total of 53 projects led by academics from across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, with each project receiving up to £5,000.
