For the 2022 Richard Noss Lecture, Sherry Turkle will discuss her latest book The Empathy Diaries: A Memoire. In the book, Turkle brings together her decades-long, path-breaking research on technology, empathy, and ethics, which has provided an ethnography of our digital world and shown how we remake ourselves in the mirror of our machines.

Sherry Turkle

Abby Rockefeller Mauz茅 Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology: MIT

She writes on the 鈥渟ubjective side鈥 of people鈥檚 relationships with technology, especially computers, and is an expert on culture and therapy, mobile technology, social networking, and sociable robotics. Her latest book, The Empathy Diaries: A Memoir (Penguin Press, 2021), ties together her personal story with her ground-breaking research.
