NIHR Biomedical Research Centres

National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centres (BRC) are collaborations between world-leading universities and NHS organisations.

They bring together academics and clinicians to take lab-based scientific breakthroughs and turn them intoÌýnew treatments, diagnostics and medical technologies.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê is a member of three BRCs:

NIHR Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH Biomedical Research Centre

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH Biomedical Research Centre is a partnership between University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustÌý(Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH) and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the United Kingdom and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê is one of the leading biomedical research universities. By working together we have become leaders in translating fundamental biomedical research into clinical research that benefits patients.

NIHR BRC status has enabled this successful partnership to build on our expertise in areas such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurosciences.


NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre

The NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre is collaboration between Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

The Moorfields BRC is dedicated to eye and vision research for the benefit of patients and the NHS. Researchers and their teams are all working towards better diagnosis, prevention and treatment of eye conditions.


NIHR Great Ormond Street Hospital Biomedical Research Centre

The NIHR Great Ormond Street Hospital Biomedical Research Centre isÌýa collaboration between Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital, It is the only NIHR BRC focussing on paediatric research.
