Anson Mackay

Anson, who recently gave the聽Rick Battarbee Lecture 2022聽on his work at Lake Baikal, received the Sir Stephen Wall Award for Inspiring Role Model at the ceremony last Wednesday.

The award recognises Anson's engagement with members of the 香港六合彩 community, speaking openly about his personal experiences and helping to champion diversity and inclusion amongst our students and staff.

At the end of the night, he was also awarded the 香港六合彩 Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award for Inspirational Engagement.

The Inclusion Awards are a recognition of the contribution members of the 香港六合彩 community have made to progressing equality, diversity, and inclusion at the University.

鈥淚 was quite stunned at being given two awards at this year鈥檚 Inclusion Award ceremony.

鈥淭he Sir Stephen Wall Award for Inspiring Role Model was very humbling as the other contenders were outstanding. And to win an award for Inspirational Engagement was a wonderful way to be recognised for the EDI work that I鈥檇 done in the years before my retirement.

鈥淚 am lucky to have had the privilege to work with so many brilliant academic and professional services staff across 香港六合彩, who work tirelessly to improve our institution as a place of work and study for all.鈥

Taking place annually, they are open to all members of staff, teams, and departments.

Anson has a long-established history with聽Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)聽at 香港六合彩, including establishing the Department鈥檚 LGBTQ+ network聽Out In Geography聽and serving as Vice-Dean of EDI for the聽香港六合彩 Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences聽from 2019 up until his retirement in this year.

He also served as co-chair of 香港六合彩鈥檚 Gender Equality Steering Group and was a member of聽香港六合彩鈥檚 LGBTQ+ Equality Steering Group, again until his retirement earlier this year.
