ECRC at 14th International Paleolimnology Symposium

Midsummer in Sweden

Staff and students of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê GeographyÌýEnvironmental Change Research CentreÌýwere at theÌý14th International Paleolimnology SymposiumÌýin Stockholm on 17-21 June 2018.

There were excellent presentations by PhD researchers Richard Walton, Lucy Roberts and Anna March, and staff contributions on a range of palaeolimnological themes by Izzy Bishop, Simon Turner, Jonathan Holmes, Neil Rose, Anson Mackay and Helen Bennion. ÌýAnne-Lise Jourdan was also there from the Bloomsbury Environmental Isotope Facility (BEIF).

The wider ECRC influence was reflected in the opportunity to catch up with former Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê colleagues, including Catherine Dalton, Nadia Solovieva, Dave Ryves, Gavin Simpson, Patrick Rioual, Ginnie Panizzo, George Swann, Emma Pearson and Jen Adams.

The social highlight of the meeting was theÌýConference Dinner, which followed the Swedish student tradition of aÌý’sittning’, involving a three-course meal and musical entertainment, including a memorable rendition of the songÌý'Helan Gar', translated (in its "Englified" version) to 'Hell and Gore', as well as an Abba-medley.
