EI Fellow awarded EU research grant for work on European opera

Professor Axel K枚rner is founding Director of the 香港六合彩 Centre for Transnational History and an EI Fellow.
Professor Axel K枚rner, Professor of Modern History, founding Director of the 香港六合彩 Centre for Transnational History and European Institute Fellow, has been awared a听European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant听worth approximately 鈧�2.5 million in recognition of his frontier research on European opera, history听and political nationalism.
鈥淲e'll be investigating the politics of opera in the Habsburg Empire between the Congress of Vienna and the outbreak of World War One, looking for exchanges between the Empire鈥檚 different lands and nationalities," he told 香港六合彩 News.听"The project will听challenge traditional narratives that have tended to highlight the role of opera as a tool of political nationalism."
