Innovate UK’s Global Business Innovation Programme with Switzerland: AI in Construction

Overview

Innovate UK’s Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) helps innovative SMEs to collaborate and explore global markets, accelerating business growth.

Each GBIP focuses on a specific market and technology or sector area, and involves a cohort of up to 15 ambitious innovative UK businesses looking to grow and scale globally.

This particular GBIP focuses on Switzerland, and AI in construction.

Who it’s for

To apply, your company must:

  • be registered and based in the UK
  • be innovation-led, with ambitions to grow and internationalise
  • have fewer than 250 employees

Preferably you’ll be developing or integrating AI technologies that drive business productivity. Focus areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Architecture
  • Offsite construction
  • Materials
  • Energy efficiency
  • Project management / risk identification
  • Tunnelling underground
  • Maintenance
  • Supply chain

Programme

The programme is structured around three main stages.

Each business will have a designated Innovate UK Business Growth innovation and growth specialist to support them for the duration of the programme. This includesÌýdeveloping a work plan to capitalise on the opportunities identified.

Stage 1:ÌýGet ready

You’ll attend a two-day workshop to help you understand the market and potential opportunities.

This will cover how to:

  • do business in Switzerland and cultural aspects
  • protect your IP in Switzerland
  • articulate your value proposition

This workshop will be held in-person on 4 to 5 September 2024, in central London.

Stage 2: Visit the market

You’ll visit Zurich to explore opportunities first-hand through meetings with key companies, research organisations, and potential collaborators, at pre-arranged events and organised matchmaking.

The visit is planned to take place from 30 September to 5 October 2024.

Stage 3:ÌýExploit the opportunity

We’ll help you follow up and maximise the opportunities though an exploitation workshop and one-to-one support from an Innovate UK Business Growth innovation and growth specialist.

The workshop will be held in-person on 21 January 2025, in central London.

Cost

If selected to participate, you’ll need to pay a commitment fee of £1,000. This will be refunded when all the activities and agreed action plan have been completed.

How to apply

The application is a competitive process, and a panel will decide which companies are most suitable to participate.

The deadline for application is 5pm on 22 July 2024. You’ll be notified of the outcome by 31 July.
