“To explore the extent to which giant marine evaporite sulphate deposits might affect climate in the long-term"
PhD project title:
The potential influence of marine sulphate deposition on long-term climate.Ìý

Project description:
The driving forces behind climate change and climatic events on geological timescales remain largely unresolved. Evaporites, which provide a record of climate change and whose weathering and deposition affect the carbon cycle, have the potential to drive long-term climate change via both sulphate and calcium biogeochemical cycles.Ìý
To explore the extent to which giant marine evaporite sulphate deposits might affect climate in the long-term, my Ph.D. study will focus on sulphate deposits around the world to explore their magnitudes, rates of deposition and paleo-environmental situations. This study will provide a new perspective for understanding the root causes of climate change.Ìý
