Research Summary

Harry gained a degree in Mathematics with Theoretical Physics from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê in 2008. This was followed by a Phd from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Earth Sciences looking at jet formation in the atmosphere and ocean above the sea ice edge in 2013. Dr Heorton then worked at the University of Reading Department of Meteorology investigating the physics of sea within a climate model. Harry is an expert on the dynamics movement of sea ice, the relationship between winds, sea ice drift and ocean currents and sea ice rheology, the mechanisms of deformation over ocean length scales. Harry is currently inverse modelling sea ice drift from observations. This is an ambitious project that will give an essential link between the observations of sea ice and its physical implementation within climate models.
