Project title:ÌýIntegrated Approach to Summer Sea Ice Analysis and Uncertainty Estimation through AI and Advanced Statistical Techniques

Research Group:ÌýEarth Sciences

Supervisor(s): Dr Michel Tsamados

Introduction:Ìý

I completed my bachelor’s degree in the Department of Statistical Science at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê. For my bachelor’s thesis, I investigated graph-based semi-supervised learning with harmonic functions and Gaussian random fields, which sparked my interest in machine learning and its applications. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work on the application of machine learning techniques in research projects at Polar Research.

Currently, I am working with Dr. Michel Tsamados at the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling. My PhD research focuses on summer sea ice analysis and uncertainty estimation through machine learning and statistical techniques.

Project description:ÌýÌý

My research project aims to develop an integrated approach, amalgamating AI and statistical methods, to advance summer sea ice analysis and reduce associated uncertainties. The exploration of synergies between various AI models and statistical frameworks is pivotal for optimising remote sensing processing algorithms which makes them also more robust and adaptable to diverse climate change scenarios.
