Restaging the Past: The Story of Historical Pageants
ÌýThis is the London premiere of a film produced by a major research project, ‘The Redress of the Past: Historical Pageants in Britain 1905-2016’.
Led by King’s College London and also involving Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê and the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, the project was funded in two stages by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The film tells the story of one of the most important ways in which communities engaged with their own histories for much of the twentieth century – and showcases a historical pageant that is still performed today.
Produced in association with the Windrose Rural Media Trust, the film includes archive footage of twentieth-century pageants and a range of contributions that highlight the ways in which these events resonated with their audiences and with the people who took part in them.
