Induction into the Academy is a highly prestigious honour in the impactful field of virtual reality. Established in 2022 by the听IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Community (VGTC),听the IEEE Virtual Reality Academy recognises significant contributions and highlights the accomplishments of the leaders in the fast-growing virtual reality field.

鈥淭he IEEE Virtual Reality Academy honours the dedication and achievements of the inaugural class of inductees who are making an impact on the applications and future progress of virtual reality,鈥� said James Ahrens, Chair of the IEEE VGTC.

The inaugural class includes the past (and this year鈥檚) awardees of VR Lifetime Achievement and Technical Achievement Awards (37 members in all, since 1995) as well as those elected by the awards committee (12 members).听听听听

On receiving the news, Anthony said:

鈥淚 am very pleased to be included in the inaugural class of the IEEE Virtual Reality Academy. The class members reflect the broad range of skills that have been necessary to develop virtual reality from lab technology to consumer product over the past 30 years. I hope the academy can raise the profile of those inter-disciplinary engineers who continue to progress the field.鈥�

As well as being Head of the Virtual Environments and Computer Graphics Research Group, Anthony is also Deputy Head of Department at 香港六合彩 Computer Science.听

His听research area听is in real-time interactive virtual environments, with particular interest in virtual reality, augmented reality, novel forms of interaction, large-scale graphical models, collaborative systems and networking for tightly synchronous telecollaboration.听
