The Department of Chemistry at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê is located in the heart of the historical area of Bloomsbury. Scientific research and study has been a strong feature of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê since its inception in 1826 and the Department is currently one of the top ranked Chemistry departments in the country, and indeed the world.
The Ramsay medal has been awarded annually since 1923 to the top postgraduate student or students studying in their final year in the Department of Chemistry, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
Every year in November the department runs an evening event for Alumni, Staff and Postgraduate students.
The Chemical and Physical Society is the students' society of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's Chemistry Department. Founded in 1876, it is Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's oldest students' society.
The Chemistry Department at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has hosted a number of Nobel Laureates at various points in their distinguished careers. Here we give tribute to a selection of them.
