Massimiliano Materazzi and Donal Finegan win major prizes at IChemE Global Awards 2018

We are very proud to announce that Research Fellow (RAEng), Dr. Massimiliano Materazzi and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering Alumnus, Dr. Donal Finegan won a total of four major prizes at this year’s IChemE 2018 Global Awards.

The IChemE Global Awards 2018 were hosted in association with Johnson MattheyÌýon 1 November at the Principal Hayley Hotel, Manchester, UK.Ìý The IChemE Awards celebrate chemical, process and biochemical engineering excellence. Established in 1994, the Awards attract interest from all over the globe and are widely recognised as the world's most prestigious chemical engineering awards.

Winner: Dr. Massimiliano Materazzi - Research FellowÌý(RAEng)

At the awards ceremony, Dr. Massimiliano Materazzi triumphed with a joint entry from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering andÌýÌý(,ÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý) winning three prestigious awards:

Energy Award Sponsored by:Ìý

This award recognises the best project or process to demonstrate innovation in renewable, alternative or nuclear energy, efficient energy use or the development of energy production methods that reduce energy intensity.

Sustainability Award Sponsored by:ÌýÌýfor their "Waste to BioSNG project"

This award recognises the project, process or product that best demonstrates innovation in waste reduction, recycling, reuse or the lengthening of product lifecycles.

Outstanding Achievement Award in Chemical and Process Engineering 2018 Sponsored by:Ìý

The outstanding entry from the IChemE Global Awards across all categories, will receive the Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering Award 2018.Ìý

Winner: Dr. Donal Finegan - Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering andÌýEILÌýgroup Alumnus

Dr Donal Finegan who completed his PhD in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering, sponsored by the NPL in 2016, won the prestigious IChemE Global Young Researcher Award at the ceremony.

Donal is now a Staff Scientist at theÌýÌýbut still retains a visiting position at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê where he continues to collaborate closely.

This award recognises the individual who best demonstrates the impact of their research in helping to address important economic, environmental or social issues. All entrants must have been born on or after 1 January 1988

Commiserations to Vassilis Charitopoulos - Young Researcher Award Finalist

Dr. Vassilis CharitopoulosÌýcompleted his PhD at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering and was a selected finalist at the IChemE Global Awards 2018.
