CEE leading new research frontiers at EEES 2024

香港六合彩 Centre for Engineering Education (CEE) members celebrated emotions at the 2024 Emotions in Engineering Education Symposium (EEES).

From 9 to 11 September, engineering education colleagues from around the globe gathered at the University of Aveiro for an engaging three-day symposium titled, "Building a Dynamic and Transformative Agenda for Emotions in Engineering Education Research." Organised by (CEE Honorary Senior Research Fellow, and Co-Editor of ), and supported by the CEE, the event provided a platform for discussion and collaboration.

The symposium's highlight was Professor Jessica T. DeCuir-Gunby's (University of Southern California) inspiring keynote address, which explored how understanding emotion and motivation through racialised perspectives can advance research and equitable education practices in engineering.

Following the keynote, Dr Idalis Villanueva Alarc贸n (University of Florida) led an insightful panel discussion featuring Dr Lelanie Smith (University of Pretoria) and (CEE, University College London), which sparked engaging discussions on these critical topics. The recorded session can be found .听

Dr Matheus Andrade also co-facilitated the opening session, 鈥淐o-creating Narratives of Our Journey into Researching Emotions in Engineering Education,鈥 as well as a thought-provoking session on 鈥淐ritical Conscientiousness, Anger, and Hope: Activism in Engineering Education.鈥

听(CEE, University College London) supported the session on "Emotionally responsive/emotion-driven pedagogy."

(TU Dublin and CEE Visiting Professor) and Dr In锚s Direito co-facilitated a session focused on emotion positionality statements, offering participants a space to reflect on how emotions shape their research perspectives.

Over three days, the symposium featured a series of workshops, discussions, and networking sessions that fostered an enriching exchange of ideas, emotions and perspectives.
