Circular Cities Hub and the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Circularity Hub
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Circularity Hub draws together all researchers working in the area of circular economy, circular built environment and circular urban systems from across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
1 April 2024
Overview
The Circular Cities Hub is part of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Circularity Hub and an entity in its own right, founded in 2015 and partly funded by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Grand Challenge Initiative. The Circular Cities Hub brings together international academics, practitioners and policy-makers working in fields relevant to the design, implementation, governance and management of circular cities. It provides the interface between academics and key urban stakeholders, enabling cutting-edge research to impact directly on the delivery of circular cities. The Hub was co-founded with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. It currently engages in research-led funded projects, consultancy and produces publications.
This is a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê venture supported by RIDGE and the Research Vice Provost.

What is a circular city?Â
Circular cities are resilient, waste-free, low carbon, resource-efficient, resilient and ecologically regenerated urban systems. These circular urban systems are transformed through the creation of circular resource flows ( recycling, reuse and energy recovery); integration of blue-green infrastructure and activities which Regenerate ecosystem services; the creation of adaptable infrastructure and processes enabling transformation of urban communities in response to hazards and long-term socio-economic, cultural, technological and environmental change.Â
