At the interface of the Arts and Sciences, cultural heritage is a cross-disciplinary field in which the UK is a recognised global leader, with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê spearheading many strategic initiatives that other nations are seeking to emulate. The BEAMS Heritage Science & Engineering (HSE) Network has been established with the support of the Deans of the three BEAMS School faculties: Bartlett (Built Environment), Engineering Sciences, and Mathematics & Physical Sciences. It is co-chaired by Professor May Cassar (Director of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Institute for Sustainable Heritage) and Simon Cane (Director, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Culture).

Under the direction of the co-Chairs, the role of the Network Coordinator will support cross-disciplinary engagement in research, and research training, related to cultural heritage. Engaging extensively with staff at all levels across the BEAMS faculties, and beyond, the post-holder will work closely with the BEAMS Research Facilitators, in the Office of the Vice-Provost (Research), to support the development of high-quality research grant applications arising from new interdisciplinary collaborations.

Funding is available to support this post, part-time, until 31 July 2019 in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The post-holder will have direct experience of research in a discipline relevant to the Network, as well as an understanding of the wider funding and policy context for research in the UK higher education sector. She or he will have a passion for multi-disciplinary engagement, and an understanding of the challenges involved in bringing together researchers from a variety of faculties and departments. Applying her or his excellent communication and facilitation skills, the post-holder will work closely with a wide range of Network members and stakeholders, including academics and researchers from the BEAMS faculties, cultural heritage partners, and professional services staff from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Culture, Office of the Vice-Provost (Research), as well as central and faculty-based communications and events staff. She or he will have the ability to work creatively and independently to identify new opportunities for collaboration, relevant to the aims of the Network, and support their longer-term development through the generation of high-quality grant applications
