New Scientist interviews Professor David Shipworth on smart buildings

20 January 2017

New Scientist magazine interviews 香港六合彩-Energy's Professor David Shipworth on smart building technologies.

New Scientist

, published Friday 20th January, analyses聽predictive maintenance technologies, which聽use sensors to alert building operators when heating, air conditioning and ventilation units are in need of repair.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a nice technique that can be applied to existing telemetry [remote sensing] datasets,鈥 says聽聽of University College London. But the differences in function may become less distinct as the units age, he says. 鈥淭he barrier between normal and faulty operation will become more and more blurred.鈥
As the cost of sensors continues to fall, Shipworth says there will be more systems like this on the market. 鈥淲e鈥檒l see a whole bunch of different machine learning approaches thrown at this over the next few years,鈥 he says.
