Meet Nicola Caley, MBA candidate and Partner at HKA, as she shares about her experience at the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA.
Why did you choose to study the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA?
I had been considering an MBA for some time but was torn between doing a standard MBA and a different, more industry-specific course, but I couldn鈥檛 find anything that really fitted. The Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA聽is brilliant as it provides the business education associated with an MBA but applies directly to megaproject delivery.
Describe how you鈥檝e been able to apply the skills and knowledge you鈥檝e learned on the course to your current role?
Everything we have learned thus far has really helped to contextualise many of the delivery issues I see on megaprojects. I have already had the opportunity to apply the current thinking on megaproject organisational design and governance with our clients.
What aspects of your studies have you enjoyed most, during your time on the MBA?
The in-person sessions once a term are intense but invaluable. The lecturers and the combination of guest lecturers and industry leaders are all excellent and present the perfect balance between academic theory and practical application. Across the cohort, colleagues are based in the US, Canada, Azerbaijan, the Middle East and the UK, working on or involved with significant megaprojects, which brings a real global perspective to discussions.
How do you foresee your MBA studies helping you as you move forward in your career?
I think the MBA聽will simply help me to be better at my job and bring the latest ideas to support our clients.
What was your experience of the teaching and level of support on this course?
The teaching is excellent, and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the structure of the course and how best to support聽part-time students.
What advice would you give to those thinking about studying the Major Infrastructure Delivery MBA at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction?
Definitely go for it. I cannot recommend this course highly enough.
