PowerPoint for Researchers (Mac)
Course Description:

The aim of the 3 hour workshop is to teach a large number of research students the necessary skills to create engaging, multimedia PowerPoint presentations which can be delivered to support academic projects and final thesis presentations.

You will follow a demonstration of various skills and techniques and practice each technique using your own Mac.

The use of staged PowerPoint files combined with screencasts allow you to practice the skills without the need to take notes or interrupt delivery.

Areas that this session may cover:

  • How to create high-quality presentations
  • Shortcuts to save time
  • Create eye-catching infographics
  • Work with online and embedded video
  • Edit images effectively
  • Use diagrams to convey information
  • Align content at speed
  • Animate content to stagger the delivery of information
  • Link to online information
  • Delivery techniques

Online screencasts can also be viewed after each session to remind you how to apply the skills and create your presentations.

  • Ensure consistent presentation of content across all slides.
  • Create eye-catching infographics to visually represent data and statistics.
  • Use video to increase the impact of a presentation.
  • Source copyright free images and add to slides.
  • Add diagrams, tables and charts to present information in a professional style.
  • Use various tools to precisely set the size and position of content.
  • Control the delivery of information using effective animation techniques.
  • Create live links to content on the web or other software applications.
  • Use effective techniques to deliver a professional presentation live or online.
