Navigating the Peer Review Process of Journals
Course Description:

This course belongs to 'The Writing Series: Writing and Publishing a Research Paper'. It describes the peer review process and how to navigate its stages. It also discusses how to deal with rejection and how to publicise your research.

This course covers:

  • The basics of the peer review process for academic journals
  • How the process varies between journals
  • Open, single-anonymous and double-anonymous peer review
  • New types of peer review
  • Peer review of preprints
  • Dealing with rejection
  • Publicising your paper
  • This is a theoretical and practical course with several interactive moments. You will be encouraged to discuss and ask questions. Please bring your laptop if you can.


    Objectives:

    By the end of this course, you will:

  • Be confident in submitting your paper to a journal, knowing roughly what will happen next
  • Know how to deal with being rejected by a journal
  • Be aware of new developments in peer review that could enhance your chance of getting published
