The Cruciform Hub is located on the Lower Ground Floor of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Cruciform Building. The Cruciform Hub includes library collections and a variety of study spaces.

The Cruciform Hub contains books and periodicals in the subjects of clinical medicine, nursing, midwifery, allied health, dentistry andÌýoral health.

The Cruciform Hub holds the combined collections of the former Boldero and Clinical Sciences libraries. A history of these libraries, Reading Medicine, traces their development within the Middlesex Hospital, University College Hospital and Royal Free & University College medical schools up until their merger in 2005.
Accessibility
There are currently no safe evacuation routes for those who are unable to use stairs. The Cruciform Hub is based below ground level, and is only accessible via stairs or a standard lift. Wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties can email the Library Accessibility Team to have items delivered to another library.Ìý

Admission
Full membership is available for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff and students and for NHS staff employed by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH and Camden & Islington (CandI) NHS Foundation Trusts.Ìý
Appropriate identification must be carried at all times on library premises.ÌýAll users of the library must abide by the Library Regulations.

Desktop access to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê-procured electronic resources
A significant number of resources are licensed through Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Library Services that are accessible using a personal NHS OpenAthens account, directly from the desktop at the workplace or from any other location, including from home. These include resources such as BMJ Best Practice, medical databases, e-journals and e-books.

IT and printing services for NHS users
We have a number of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH networked computers in the Hub accessible only to NHS staff possessing a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH username and password. These computers are accompanied by a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH printer.
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊGuest WiFi is available.

Books and Borrowing
The Cruciform book collection is arranged by the National Library of Medicine classification scheme. A Quick Reference collection includes dictionaries and directories. Locations may be checked by searching Explore and limiting your search to 'Library catalogue'.
Cruciform books may be borrowed, and returned, using the self-service machines.

Middlesex Hospital Medical School archive
Some 200 volumes are held, comprising works by and about former members of the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, particularly those of the 19th century. There is a collection relating to Sir John Bland-Sutton (1855-1936), surgeon and friend of Kipling. Also included is a small collection of classic books on urology dating from 1811 onwards. These items have a catalogue location CRUCIFORM Store MX.
Inter Library Loans
Books and periodical articles not held by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê may be requested on inter-library loan.
Print journals
The Cruciform Hub receives some current journals and series in print in addition to our many titles available electronically. Print parts for 2013 onwards, plus a longer backfile of certain titles from 2009-, are held with the Cruciform Hub collections*. All other volumes are held in Store; to request these please complete an online Store Request form which is also available from the 'More' drop-down menu in Explore.ÌýAll periodicals are reference only.
*Please ask a member of Cruciform library staff if you are unsure about the location of a specific title.
E-journals
E-journals are available to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê users through Explore. NHS staff can also access certain titles via their login.
E-books
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's e-books can be accessed from Explore online (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê users).
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH and other NHS staff will also be able to access the full text of many e-books with an account.
Online Medical Databases
, including Medline, Embase, AMED, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Biosis, HMIC, Scopus and the Web of Science, are available to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê users.
Passwords for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê users
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff and students can access Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's licensed resources off-site with their Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê userid and password; no other account is required. For more information see our e-resources web page.
IT Services
For Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê students, self-service laptop loans are available from the self-service area.ÌýÌý
For Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH staff, some networked computers give access to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH desktop, accessible only by Trust employees in possession of a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH username & password. A dedicated printer is also available.
All NHS staff who have registered as library members may also access the internet on their own laptop, tablet or smartphone in the Library. Please ask a member of Cruciform library staff for a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊGuest account for wi-fi access.
Printing and photocopying
There are multi-functional devices (MFDs) in the Hub for printing, photocopying and scanning using the print@Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê service (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê users).Ìý
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH staff may print from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊH networked computers using the dedicated printer provided.
The terms of the Copyright Act (1988) and the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê or NHS licence with the Copyright Licensing Agency must be adhered to, as appropriate. Guidance is available.
Lockers
Lockers are available for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê students.
Food and drink
Food is not allowed in the Cruciform Hub. Lidded drinks are permitted.
Safety and Security
The library is protected by a security system. If an alarm sounds as you are leaving it may be necessary to examine any library materials in your possession.
Please do not leave valuables unattended in the library.
If the fire alarm sounds please leave the library immediately by the nearest fire exit, and assemble on the corner of Huntley Street and University Street.
