Major coal interest in the north-west, developed c. 1774 and in the hands of the Blundell family until 1952.
- The partnership lately carried on by Samuel Warren, Jonathan Blundell, William Earle and the late Thomas Birch in the coal trade under Samuel Warren & Co. dissolved 1st March, carried on by Jonathan Blundell, Thomas Earle and William Earle jun. [the original partner was William Earle 1721-1788 and the new partner in 1783 was his son William Earle 1759-1838).
